Here's the thing about the name. "Bae" is the Welsh word for "bay" — and there's no bay I love more than Cardigan Bay, home to the little seaside village of Aberporth where I live and work. It's also the word people use these days for something they adore — their "before anyone else". Both meanings fit, and I wouldn't have it any other way.
BAE Illustrations didn't begin with art school or a master plan. It began with a slightly unreasonable love of stationery. From a very young age I was the kid thrilled by a fresh set of felt pens, a new tin of paints, a crisp pad of paper — give me colour to play with and I'm happy.
That love never wore off. It just grew into something I get to do every day: hand-finished pieces — rainbow-striped vases, affirmation prints, stickers and little charms — each one made to bring a bit of brightness into everyday homes. No two are ever quite the same, and honestly, that's my favourite part.
It all comes back to one idea: live life in colour.

Every piece starts life as an idea — usually a scribble of colour on a sketchpad. From there it's shaped, painted and finished in my studio in Aberporth, then wrapped up with care and sent off to its new home. That's my studio in the photos up above — yes, it really is that colourful.
